We are proud to be the leading institution in European integration processes, EU studies, EU and Russia relations, Law, Economics and Political Science. Situated in the historical university town of Tartu, this privileged programme provides an important pathway between the East and the West, with age old ties to the other Baltic countries and to Russia. Experience and knowledge are the motto of EuroCollege, so come and get your MA in EU – Russian Studies or just enjoy our Semester Programme Prometheus and get a great opportunity to expand your horizons! Why teach European Union and Russia in one programme? Estonia and the other Baltic nations are located in between the East and the West, not just geographically but also in terms of their identity and cultural background. Throughout the process of independence from the Soviet Union, Estonia has gained understanding in dealing with many transition processes, offering a solid knowledge foundation to be one of the first Baltic countries to be admitted to the candidacy process of the European Union and to, in present times, be an experienced member of EU legislative and decision-making processes. As of January 2011, Estonia also became the 17th member of the Eurozone and in doing so the first ex-Soviet state to adopt the EU single currency. To the EuroCollege, it is important that students, government officials, business representatives and NGO activists understand the basic information and background of why European Union and Russian relations are important. To understand and develope the story behind it, and have those perspectives analysed from a practical and academic point of view. The European Union - Russian Studies Master Programme focuses on the understanding of the development of each entity and the relationship between the EU, being a political and an economic entity sui generis, and the Russian Federation, including Russia's close neighbours to the West and the South. Most of whom are aiming at accession and full membership of the European Union. The MA is a two years interdisciplinary programme, covering both economic and legal sciences, as well as political science (comparative politics, international relations), history, linguistics and cultural studies. The programme incorporates not only different disciplines but it also binds together the study of two main regions in one coherent curriculum, giving a comprehensive understanding about the political, social and economic developments in the European Union and its member states as well as in Russia and its neighbouring countries in Eastern Europe and in the Caucasus (Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan).
