EuroCollege's main courses of action are the studies of the European Union and euro integration, further education and scientific and applied research. In addition, EuroCollege holds several conferences, seminars and public lectures in the matters of the European Union.
EuroCollege is a study and research centre that deals with topics of the European Union and European integration. EuroCollege has grown out of the international Euro Faculty programme, which was founded by the Council of the Baltic Sea States in 1993 with the aim of supporting the reform of teaching of social sciences in the Baltic States. EuroCollege was founded on 24 April 1998 - it was created as an interdisciplinary centre focusing on issues related to European integration.
Today’s research agenda and teaching in EuroCollege focus on policy-making of the European Union, nation state interests and transition processes as well as enlargement experience and EU-Russia relations.
EuroCollege teaches two master degree programmes –European Studies MA programme focuses on European Union (policy-making, law and economics) and European Union-Russian Studies MA programme on EU-Russia relations and Europe’s neighbourhood (relationships, transition and enlargement).
The MA programmes of EuroCollege are both based on interdisciplinary approach to European Studies, combining EU affairs and policies in economic, legal and political aspects. MA students of both programmes pass the courses of EU law, EU structure and policies, EU history and integration theories. The objective of the teaching is to provide quality instruction on the policies and institutions of the European Union and prepare specialists for both the public and private sectors and prepare students for entering their PhD.
Interdisciplinary courses are taught by the professors and lecturers of Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tartu. In addition, visiting lecturers both from Estonia and foreign countries as well as experts from public sector are involved.
EuroCollege welcomes exchange students (Erasmus) and semester students (Prometheus programme) to Tartu.
EuroCollege hosts the Centre for Applied Research (CASS) providing input for national development plans and policy analysis. The unit was established at the EuroCollege in co-operation between the following institutions: Faculties of Economics, Social Sciences, Law and Science and Technology; Chairs of Human Geography and Regional Planning; UT's Pärnu College, Faculty of Education, and the EuroCollege.
The Centre for Applied Social Sciences (CASS) is a co-operation division in the University of Tartu that was established for spreading and applying social-scientific knowledge. CASS is engaged in analysing interdisciplinary influences of different developments, trends, programmes, legislation, etc. The mission of CASS is to raise the importance of knowledge-based and sustainable decision-making and administration in politics, legislation, education, economy, health and environment protection, and regional development planning by applying social sciences.
EuroCollege has a wealth of experience in holding further education courses in the field of the European Union. There have been courses of different content, duration and weight for different target groups - students, civil servants and employees of local governments, entrepreneurs, journalists, lecturers, and trainers.
